The effect of stress on the modern day believer's fight for alignment

Stress is the trash of modern life - we all generate it but if you don't dispose of it properly, it will pile up and overtake your life.

I believe one of the reasons why I see a lot of testimonies of people being free from addiction is that I was in one myself and I can relate so well.

I don’t know if you’ve ever experienced this, you were sad, frustrated, or confused, and almost immediately you opened a porn site and started watching it (you indulged in your addiction) even when you stayed off the usual triggers.

you see👀, when we talk about triggers of addiction everybody’s mind goes to music, movies, and novels but nobody talks about stress…

Millennials and GenZ ‘s are the most stressed generations and we wonder why the porn sites are blessed with traffic

One of the reasons I’m writing on stress as a trigger is that the world today has been supercharged with it:

  • Relationships

  • Finances

  • The News

These are the main stressors that majorly affect our view of ourselves and the future

Stress can significantly impact porn addiction in several ways:

  1. Escapism: Individuals may turn to pornography as a way to escape from stress or negative emotions. Watching porn can provide a temporary distraction from the source of stress, offering a brief sense of relief or pleasure.

  2. Coping Mechanism: Pornography can become a coping mechanism for dealing with stress. Some individuals may use it as a way to self-soothe or numb emotional pain caused by stressors in their lives.

  3. Increased Cravings: Stress can trigger increased cravings for addictive behaviors, including viewing pornography. This can lead to a cycle of seeking out pornographic content as a means of coping with stress, which can further reinforce the addiction.

SOLUTION

, the way you respond to stress shows if you’ve healed or not… the Israelites always wanted to go back to Egypt when they faced difficulty.

One way I would advise you to reduce and handle your stress is

  1. Detach your age from your goals.

  2. Stop comparing yourself with people.

  3. Stop letting people use defining words on you that are not you e.g bitch, stupid, good for nothing, etc. even as a joke.

  4. Stop following the News. (delete Twitter 😂)

  5. Pray (cast your cares upon the lord)
